He was simply the face of the sport of golf. That says a lot for someone who may not have been the best of all time, but the combination of his talents and adorable persona made him simply the King of his sport. Arnold Palmer exemplified class like no other athlete has before. I had the good fortune of meeting Mr. Palmer in 1994 and it was just like I thought it would be. In awe of The Man as he graciously signed autographs and took pictures with the people who admired his grace and came out to see him play the game he loved. And loved seeing him play the game. But he was so much more than just one of the best of his generation. He was as powerful off the course as he was on. He gave back so much of his time to those less fortunate and never took for granted his successes. Rather he used those successes and well-earned influence to make the world around him better. As important as his 4 green jackets were to him, he would have traded them all to make the world around him a better place. That is what kind of true champion Arnold Palmer was. There will never be another like him. Rest in peace Arnie. Your Army is in mourning……
