I was hoping to not have to discuss the Aaron Rodgers situation for many more months until we approach the next NFL season. But this guy loves the limelight so much that he can’t get enough of…..himself! He strung everyone along for months stating that he was unhappy with the Packers upper management and would never play for Green Bay again. Really? Well he ended his holdout by agreeing to be able to play under his existing contract with the stipulation that he could leave Green Bay after the season. The Packers agreed to that blackmail demand and he went out and won the league MVP, but one thing he didn’t win was the Super Bowl. So then the speculation began about where he would be playing next season. It is now apparent that the whole reason for the circus-like atmosphere he created was that he wanted, what Sports with Mono and Mono have said all along, was the MONEY! And this week he agreed to stay in Green Bay with a ridiculous 4-year, $200 million dollar contract! So does that mean that he is no longer unhappy with the Packers management, which hasn’t changed? I think not. This was all an orchestrated play to get the money he believed he was entitled to. His end game was to be the highest paid player in the history of the league. And he got what set out to get. Of course this won’t last forever as salaries continue to hit new levels, but for now, he got what he wanted. But with that, he has completely lost his credibility as a class act. So I hope he is happy with himself but I will never view him in the same light again. He has 200 million reasons to care less about what I think, but I will never root for him or the Packers again as long as he is the QB of the franchise. Lost in all of this is a young player named Jordan Love who was drafted #1 as the heir apparent to Rodgers. I hope he feels the same way as I do and becomes a star in the league with some other team. Remember, Rodgers is 38 years old, so how much longer can he play at an MVP level? He’s no Tom Brady. He is a very good QB who has won only one Super Bowl (like many others). Brady has won seven!!! ‘Nuff said.
