3 World Series titles in 5 years…..quite impressive. The Giants are a team with relatively unknown players, but they pulled it off and won yet another title over Kansas City.  Although the Royals were very hot early in the playoffs, they just weren’t good enough to overcome San Francisco and the incredible pitching performance by Madison Bumgarner. What an unbelievable display of dominance by one of the rising stars of [...]

We lost my father on October 17th, 2014. He battled right to the end. He was a great man and he will most certainly be missed. Known in the neighborhood as “The Bear”, but it was a complimentary term. Rest in peace Dad.

Coward. Violent. No other way to describe a man who would do something like that to a woman. And he thought that he would get away with this and just go on and make millions of dollars playing a game. Well Ray, you didn’t. Not only are you done as a football player, but if there is any justice in this crazy society of ours, you will be prosecuted. This [...]

Louis Zamperini passed away this week. In the event you don’t know who he is, you can look up the word “hero’ in the dictionary and his picture will appear. The book ”Unbroken” was based on this man’s life. Zamperini survived 47 days on a raft in the Pacific Ocean after his plane crashed during WWII. Not only did he survive the crash, the horrific time in shark-infested waters and the loss of his [...]

Is there any wonder the Milwaukee Bucks have been at the bottom of the league for years now? And then they give away 2 draft picks (usually the way to rebuild a crumbling franchise) to secure the rights to hire Jason  Kidd? Huh? What in the world has this guy done to be a “must have” for this team?  I must be missing something. Kidd was barely over .500 with [...]

Tony Gwynn passed away at 54 years old. This is a loss for all of sports, not just baseball. He was as classy a man as the sport ever produced. Not to mention he was also one of the greatest hitters of our generation. It was a shame that he never got a World Series ring, but he still exhibited sportsmanship every time he stepped on the field. And he [...]

He is known in hockey circles as “The King”.  But in order to earn such praise, you have to do something worthy for it. Henrik is almost there, but he has to seal the deal. And what would do that is to win the Stanley Cup, the hardest championship to win in sports. Until then, he is just a prince. Yes, one of the best goalies in the game, but that [...]

It’s a shame there is only one day a year that most of us think about the sacrifices our veterans made for the liberties we all enjoy today. Go to a parade, shake the hand of the soldier who most likely almost gave his or her life, and just say thank you. And think about those that did give the ultimate sacrifice. They all deserve it.

Bubba Watson won his second Masters Championship on Sunday in a very impressive manner.  Jordan Spieth was a young contender (20 years old!) and was really Bubba’s only serious competition throughout the final round. But the final round at Augusta National is relentless and notorious for devouring young players and Watson’s experience was a major factor in his prevailing.  Jordan proved that he belonged there and we can count him on being a [...]

149 years ago today, the surrender of Lee’s troops at Appomattox Courthouse finally brought a close to the bloodiest period of time in our Nation’s history and enabled us to begin rebuilding from the devastation of a divided nation. However, only 5 days later on April 14th, we were rocked again by the assassination of Lincoln.  Not sure the country ever fully recovered from this, but it should never be forgotten.
